Most of us know how important it is to write a will, but worryingly there are many people that don't know what happens when you die without a will.
If you die without a will then you will be given the government one which follows the laws of intestacy.
For instance, did you know that a spouse will inherit the first £250,000 of an estate if they have children, the rest is split between the spouse and children. If both parents were to die leaving children under the age of 18 then social services will be involved and the court of protection has to decide who looks after them.
Lets face it, we are all going to die one day and it only makes things worse for your family if you haven't put your wishes in writing. It could be as simple as preventing being buried instead of being cremated. It could be to ensure that your family doesn't have to go through months even years of paperwork to sort out your estate.
Don't put it off, do the right thing now and make a will.
